It’s Movember time again, starting November 1st the annual celebration of manly moustaches and men’s health awareness begins, this year bigger than ever. The rules are simple: shave your face clean on November 1st and grow a moustache throughout the month of November. Bother your friends to “sponsor” your moustache and collect donations, or simply spread the word about the importance of testicular/prostate cancer screening. Personally speaking this’ll be my 5th year as a participant, every year our team “Boh Knows Movember” raising more than the last, in 2011 raising over $3,000 for prostate and testicular cancer awareness and research and a feature in the Baltimore Sun regarding some of our great network members. The Baltimore Area has its own network this year too!

Now that that business is out of the way, let’s run down some of the super fun events happening during the month of Movember that you can participate in if you’re unable to grow a moustache:
MOVEMBER KICKOFF HAPPY HOUR
- November 9th, 4-9pm
- No Idea Tavern (1649 S Hanover, SBIC/Riverside)
- $10
- all you can drink Yuengling, rail and wine and “Moustache Ride” themed drinks
- Free party ‘staches!
- Prizes and giveaways
For the past three years the Kickoff Happy Hour has been a great event, with cancer survivors, moustache enthusiasts and friends of friends alike having a good old fashioned happy hour. Nothing crazy, just a good time. If you’re a participant or just want to meet some folks with fledgling ‘staches, this is your event.
GUZZLE AND GOBBLE 8 TO BENEFIT MOVEMBER
For 8 years now (this being the 8-bit’th annual, get it), Guzzle and Gobble has been the capstone fundraising party in Federal Hill, as of last year came aboard with Movember and always provides a great time for a great cause. The ticket price – $40 – may seem steep but the benefits are huge and your donation is included. Here’s the lowdown:
- November 17th, 12pm-10pm (for a full schedule of events see the Facebook Page)
- Blue Agave, Stalking Horse, Noble’s Bar and Grill
- Touch football, beer pong tournaments, cash prizes, raffles, and giveaways – a slew of activities
- Includes full Thanksgiving buffet dinner (fried turkey!) and open bar from 7-10pm
- Free T-shirt with purchase of ticket
A “smallcrawl” (small bar crawl) will precede the 7pm dinner starting with touch football at Rash Field at 12 noon. If you’re up for the xtreme party, we’ve got your moustaches.
