THE BISHOP SAYS END THIS SHIT!

The Bishop Says End ShitHello My CTB Family,

It’s your friendly, neighborhood self-appointed Bishop of the City that Breeds here.

I know what you’re thinking, “Bishop!  Where the Hell have you been?”

It’s been a long time since I posted anything.  And I gots to be honest with you.  Life has been a little bit whacked out.  You see my CTB crew, when there is a snow days I know most you probably sit back in your easy chair, sippin’ hot chocolate, and petting your cat.  That is not what happens at the Bishop’s house.  At the BIshop’s house, when there are snow days, all chaos breaks out.   Because the Bishop’s got four children under the age of 10.

That’s right, I said four.  And we live in a tight space.

I love my kids.  They’re all awesome.  But when they all get locked down in our small house together, things get a little bit nutzo.  The four-year-old gets all dressed up like the Hulk and starts punching people for no reason, the six-year-old lays on the floor in inconvenient place and rolls around complaining there is nothing to do, the eight-year-old dances through the house loudly singing songs from Frozen (DAM YOU FROZEN!), and the ten-year-old goes and hides under a bed to escape the madness.

So there’s been no time to post anything.  I’ve just been tryin’ to survive.  It’s like an episode of the Walking Dead, but with less Zombies and more crazy.

But today I’m back with a vengeance!  And I have something important for you to do.

Last week I saw lots of people posting red X’s on their Facebook pages with the words “End It.”  At first I thought this was a campaign against this stupid snow.  I was hoping everyone was going to take to the streets with supped-up carbon emitters to speed this whole Global Warming thing along.  (I’m just kidding.  Don’t get all out of sorts.)  But after a little research, I learned the X’s were about  bringing awareness to the tragedy of human trafficking.  The effort was part of a campaign called “The End It Movement.”

Today, I’m going to offer another way you can help along with drawing red X’s on yourself.  It won’t cost you anything and it will only take a few minutes of your time.

There is this fantastic organization called the Araminta Freedom Initiative.  They are an amazing group of Baltimore people working to bring an end to Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking in our dear city (American kids under the age of 18 being sold for sex in Baltimore) .   They have teams of volunteers attacking the issue on multiple fronts from education and awareness, to prevention programs, to after-care programs for survivors.  Last year in May I interview their Director of Programs for this here blog.

One of the incredible Araminta teams is called the Strategic Economic Deterrence Team (The SED Team).  Currently this team is working with hotels in Baltimore to equip and empower them to help end Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking in their establishments.

Here is how you can help.  The SED Team is working on developing a program hotels can participate in.  Right now they are in the early design stages.  They need your thoughts.  Take a minute, click on the link below, and take our survey.

You don’t need to be in or from Baltimore to take it.  Everyone can participate!  Answer honestly.

The Bishop thanks you.

DEATH TO SNOW!

Bishop Out.

(If you want to know more about the work of Araminta and maybe even get involved, go check out their website by clicking here.  I’ve been volunteering with them for two months and have loved every minute.)
