“Dancers on The Block are like snowflakes; no two are the same.”
This video from 1980’s Evening Magazine shows an entirely (well, not entirely) different world from our Block in 2012, where the dancers describe the “high” of dancing on stage without any reference to needles. Not a full-chest or sleeve tattoo or frenulum piercing in sight on these ladies, hell some of them look healthy (except maybe the chick at 03:00). This entire video is seven minutes of awesome: Thick Bawldimore voice over, a glimpse of Pollock Johnny’s, and an actual ra-ra attitude when it comes to controversial flintlock issues like The Block; they’re actually interested in the Block’s revival, rather than simply reporting on its decline. Then again this was when The Block was, well, four blocks long, crack hadn’t hit the scene quite yet. Aw well.
