The entertainment circle is complete.

It should come to no surprise to anyone that with the imminent XBOX 360 dashboard update, which brings so much additional functionality it could choke a camel, we here at The City That Breeds went right ahead and got a subscription to Netflix, since among the camel-choking list of additions to the 360 comes the ability to stream movies and TV shows via Netflix directly through the box, onto your large television, directly into your rods/cones and into your cerebral cortex.

I have to say Netflix “on demand” is pretty fucking sweet. Last night within three minutes I was watching Jesus Camp, a mildly disturbing look at childhood indoctrination in the Evangelical community (to make an understatement). I put it in my instant watch queue, plugged my laptop into the giant HDTV in the living room via HDMI cable, and watched it without a hitch.

Once the dashboard update goes live on the 19th, I’ll be able to do the same thing via Xbox, with one important addition – you can watch it with other people who aren’t there with you. Yes my friends, social viewing makes its debut on the console, and what a great day it is to be entertained.
