You can make the pain stop.

Good news? Rational choice scholars search in vain for the solution to the free rider problem–have they finally found a cause universal enough to compel participation?

“An anonymous reader writes to mention that Uwe Boll, the infamous German director behind such video game adaptations as House of the Dead, BloodRayne, Dungeon Siege and Postal, has recently admitted that he would retire from making movies if enough people want him to stop. When FearNet mentioned to Boll a petition online signed by 18,000 people requesting that he cease making films, Boll responded that ‘18,000 is not enough to convince me.’ So how much would be enough? ‘One million,’ Boll said.’

  1. I’ve never actually seen any of his movies, but he sure beat the shit out of the 4 critics who accepted his boxing challenge. Also, which one of these video games touched people so deeply with its complex back story that they were actually disappointed (or surprised) that the movie adaptation sucked. Seriously, you’d think from all the internet hate that he made a shitty Star Wars movie (or three).

  2. Alone In The Dark could have been an amazing fucking movie as it was based on Lovecraft works. It was not an amazing fucking movie. I think Bloodrayne COULD have been passable if done correctly, but it wasn’t.

He definitely beat the shit out of his critics though.

  3. Shitty movies based off of video games need to stop being made, he makes them, he needs to be stopped

  4. Nat, we’re watching house of the dead next time you come over. Boll beat up his critics because he’s actually a pretty big dude and has boxing training, plus they were scrawny internet critics. i read the specs of his “call out,” they had to be like 160 or lighter or something.
