In case you missed it last week amidst the unending Grand Prix coverage, Federal Hill’s Taverna Corvino space (1117-19 S Charles St.) had itself a little transfer of ownership (leased property) from the McComas-in-name-only crowd to one C+R Pub, which is in practice going to supposedly be a steakhouse, and the C+R stands for “Cowboys and Rednecks.”
………….YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!
I’m excited for this “Y’all,” I mean Federal Hill has up to this point been totally devoid of Cowboy and/or Redneck themed steak restaurants, and come hell or high water, the area will finally have one!! “Yeehaw!!”
At any rate it seems like just last late Winter-ish or so when Taverna closed its doors, acquired the residential home next to it and ownership claimed to be expanding into the adjacent property, while also opening up the top floor for more table service. Seemed to me at the time to be an unusual move, considering the crowds at Taverna were always fairly thin; initially the restaurant was billed as Authentic Italian +Wine much like its predecessor Vespa, which slowly gave way to $2 Miller Lite bottle happy hours as the months went by and dollars were seemingly not flowing as expected (looking at your $2 shot specials also, Corks) through the doors. Then in April McComas et al shuttered the establishment, confirming that traffic had hindered the business from being what it was expected to be, noting in an email to D@L “We expect to open up (a) new concept midsummer incorporating the space next door (1123 S Charles) with a nice courtyard in the back…”
Seemingly fortunate that the business went onto the market and was picked up within a few months, whoever decided to plunk down what has to be a tidy sum of money for the barely started refurbishing / expansion / retooling of the concept has a lot of work ahead of them. Are you excited?
god forbid PBR corner the redneck bar market.
PBR is fake honky-tonk. I don’t think real cowboys or rednecks want to go some place with a bathroom attendant.
or a bathroom
because I’ve found that nothing complements a 10-gallon hate quite like a pinked popped collar…
Moderator: it’s complements. Not compliments. No need to change it for me. I do speak English.
Cowboys and Rednecks was a game we used to play as kids on the Eastern Shore. But as we grew up, we realized it wasn’t a game at all. It was life.
did you guys ever have West Side Story-esque rumbles slash tragic love stories across the two groups? Featuring line dance battles with ropes instead of knives?
Cowboys vs Redecks: coming to theaters this fall.
Whoever wins, we lose.
I think this article just made my property value go down.
Opening soon. Closing soon thereafter. Way to do your demographic research.
you think? I think that it can work. Good food is good food and as long as they have good to great food, they will last. I am actually looking forward to them to open. A steak place in Federal Hill will be heaven. Thankfully I can walk to the place!
