A reader’s plea: Where can I go for MNF?

*single tear*

So I’m rollin deep this morning sifting through the various Chinese spam emails that somehow wind up in the official CTB email inboxes, when I come across a reader with a valid question:

Any suggestions for a good Monday Night Football bar, meaning cheap food and drink, decent TV’s? I have been lost since Padonia Station discontinued their free Monday night buffet, AKA “dinner.”

Thanks,
Tom

Dear Tom,

This is actually an interesting question, as the Baltimore area seems so rabid for Ravens Sunday that most people wouldn’t even think to go out and watch a Monday night game, be it the Ravens or otherwise. In fact, the only place I know of off the top of my head that might be worth checking out would be Alonso’s/Loco Hombre (413-415 W Cold Spring Ln, Keswick), where 98 Rock has a broadcast every Monday and burger specials. But Monday is essentially my Sunday – the Day of Rest, and I rarely if ever venture out to spend money or watch football on Mondays.

And sadly, the internet (Google, rather) isn’t turning up much specifically related to Monday Night Football specials or generally great places to watch the game in the area. Anyone out there fancy a MNF night on the town? In the city, suburbs or otherwise? Can anyone help Tom find his new Monday night home for cheap food and drink, and decent TV’s?

  1. Jerry’s (sometimes not so) Friendly Belvedere Tavern has prime rib night on Mondays for football. $5 gets you a prime rib sandwich.  They start carving it up around 8:30.  There’s usually a special on oysters, as well. A Natty Boh draft is usually about $1.50.

  2. This may sound surprising but I was at Bo Brooks last night for the Ravens game. Not a fan of the Bo Brooks, but some friends are regulars and I;’m no digging off season there.   Anyway, during the winter they have 1/2 price drafts and 1/2 price appetizers all day every day.  Natty Boh draft was like $1.75 and the appetizers are 1/2 price  I’m not a mathematician but I’d guess that that’s a pretty good value. After 3 Mad Elves my world was spinning.  For cheap too.

  3. Glory Days Grill on Joppa Road has a gazillion giant televisions. Food isn’t exactly cheap, but it’s not expensive, either.
