Police identify Alabama Man as person of interest in fatal stabbing
tl;dr Baltimore is dangerous
Baltimore’s long-standing tradition of horrible violence as celebration for our nation’s independence continued unabated Monday night as a nonfatal shooting, a fatal stabbing, and a toddler getting shot in the leg managed to happen despite the boosted presence of police, surveillance, GPS enable lasers and a fleet of battleships in the Downtown area. Which, despite the on-the-record disappointment from police chief Bealefeld and Mayor SRB, we’re basically demonstrating to everyone that the police absolutely cannot prevent this from happening on an annual basis, no matter what you throw at it.
I mean, that’s the long and the short of it, correct? That all the cameras in the world can’t really prevent a guy from shooting your 4 year old in the crotch, because it’s so crowded that police can’t get to the scene?
It’s bedlam. Bedlam that reflects the most poorly on this city, demonstrating that as a society we aren’t even capable of keeping our tourist gems and areas that are literally two blocks away from Police Headquarters safe. Never mind the apathy we project daily to those murdered on the West Side – Baltimore’s own brand of “meh” toward its problems with violence, we can’t even keep our shit together for one night, in a city which produced our nation’s anthem where we ought to be truly proud to be Americans. Instead, we perpetuate the reality of Baltimore as the 8th most dangerous city.
hmm, maybe people will need to take a different approach to this violence other than “well, it’s just drug dealers/users/’insert racial epithet here’ killing each other”
Yeah that would be pretty helpful, wouldn’t it
At BWI i saw some crudely written graffiti which said :Blah Blah is a snitch, and that person’s address. Someone added below: “Dead that bitch”
It might help if there were actual consequences to breaking the law as well.
Dog the Bounty Hunter could sort out this mess.
I think this calls for a “Sam the Bounty Hunter” weekend preview
YYYYEEEEEESSSS
I had read that the shooting was from a round being fired in the air somewhere else that came down into the harbor.
