Here’s a list of things I would like to mention that didn’t necessarily make it to the general news media on Saturday after Obama’s HISTORIC GROUNDBREAKING DESCENT on Baltimore, partially because it’s not necessarily worth mentioning by them but also probably not very appropriate.
- “The Gauntlet” – literally a bajillion vendors screaming in your face trying to sell shitty inspirational T-Shirts, buttons, posters, wall scrolls, hoodies, bobble heads, Mazda Miattas, and on and on as we were trying to find our way through the labyrinth of closed off streets, security baracades, and twenty thousand other citizens gettiing to the plaza. It was unreal. At any given time there were at least four vendors in my field of vision trying to sell me Obama themed stuff.
- The snipers – there were spotters and snipers dotting the top of quite a few of the buildings surrounding the plaza, which despite the fact that they were there for security’s sake kind of made things a little freaky.
- O’Malley – was BOOED instantly when he rolled up on stage and began delivering one of the more embarrassing speeches I’ve heard come out of his mouth since his long-winded mashup at the DNC in 2004. I found it odd that he spoke at all considering he was such a diehard Clinton supporter. But that really only brings us to point 4…
- My girlfriend Sheila – actually this was mentioned in a few different places, but Mayor Dixon was never mentioned in any shape or form within the context of the event, despite the fact that she’s the first female black mayor of Baltimore. But it has NOTHING to do with the fact that she’s been indicted guys!! No way! I also found it funny that she had the ballz of steel to wear a fur coat to the event, further demonstrating the fact that she is totally and utterly lacking in the self awareness department.
Aaaaaaaand then the whole thing was completely overshadowed by the DC concert. Eh, at least Baltimore got somethin’
