Free entry to Baltimore Comedy Factory tonight through Saturday
The Baltimore Comedy Factory has moved into its new home at Power Plant Live (6 Market Pl., Downtown) from the now shuttered Burke’s Restaurant upstairs, digs that logistically are a vast improvement in terms of access as opposed to walking through a restaurant into a cramped attic lobby. Going on nearly 30 years, the Comedy Factory has always been showcasing decent comedy at a decent price – good time for my money, and this weekend to celebrate their new location they’re giving out free admission (with 2 drink minimum, natch) to see this weekend’s headliner Don Jamieson, of VH1′s That Metal Show fame. All you have to do is print out this coupon below and present it at the door, no limit on how many copies you make! So waste … Read entire article »

Drinking Made Easy coming to Baltimore and Natty Boh on Tap!
Rumors had been flying about recently as to whether or not Zane Lamprey’s (awesome name btw) show Drinking Made Easy, a show dedicated to regional drink specialties and traditions, was coming to Baltimore to shoot an episode for season 2. The rumors were confirmed last week, when DME ran an article on The Land of Pleasant Living, showcasing Baltimore’s de facto beer for locals, Natty Boh (I had caught wind of the rumors via Facebook, then saw the confirmation right up in this). Zane is inviting people to email him directly with suggestions for local drinks and traditions (zanelamprey@gmail.com) for the show, so if you’d like to see your favorites when they shoot in April and eventually air, I’d say go right ahead and do that. Fingers crossed that Idle Hour’s … Read entire article »

The Pratt Black and White Ball is this weekend
Filed under “So classy your assy better be there,” this Saturday January 29th at 8pm marks the annual Pratt Contemporaries Black and White Ball, benefiting the Pratt Library’s children and teen literacy efforts. Last year’s ball was amazifying, everyone had a fantastic time and this year promises to provide more of the same. The spread includes open bar, hors d’oeuvres by local caterers and chefs, and a DJ crankin’ the tunes for your booty shaking needs on the Central Library’s (400 Cathedral St., Downtown) swanktastic black and white marble tiled floor. The theme this year is Bond… James Bond, so wear your finest tux, gents, and bring your Walther PPK your favorite Bond girl on your arm – just make sure they don’t get poisoned, shot, painted gold or thrown off of … Read entire article »
