So there I was, drunkenly surfing Youtube for some Mr. Ray’s Hair weave commercials when I stumble upon a gem of gems, a commercial for B 104 and their morning show, during which they’re *really excited* about giving away $10,000 to one lucky birthday winner! Recognize the guy in the middle sporting the Orioles jacket?
Yes? No? Whatever, it’s Glenn Beck. Yes, that Glenn Beck. Mr. 9/12, restore America blah blah blahhhhhhhhhhh something conservative Glenn Beck. My brain exploded upon watching this video, not because of the strange idea that Glenn Beck was at one point a schlocky DJ on a Baltimore radio station, but because his mannerisms in this commercial – his animated, almost cartoonish on camera antics – are something of a microcosm of his schtick all throughout his role on cable news, just with conservative nutjob weirdo banter applied instead of morning radio nutjob weirdo banter (no offense to you current Glenn Beck fans!). Oddly enough, I was pretty young when this commercial ran but I distinctly remember it, but never in a million years would I have made the connection until seeing this Youtube vid. Thanks, Youtube vid!
Tip of the hat to @dennisthecynic for this quip:

wait, that was really THAT Glenn Beck??? I used to listen to them back in elementary school. I thought it had to be a different guy with the same name. Damn.
That made me uncomfortable.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glenn_Beck#Radiohis whole Radio history shows how much of a douche this guy really is…
“Beck telephoning Kelly’s wife on-the-air, mocking her recent miscarriage.”
“Beck was arrested and jailed for speeding in his DeLorean”
“Beck and Gray mocked a Chinese-American caller on air who felt offended by a comedy segment by playing a gong sound effect and having executive producer Alf Gagineau mock a Chinese accent”
and somehow…people look up to him…. LOL
Some folks consider it the highest honor and expression of freedom to be an arrogant dick…because it shows you don’t give a shit and you play by your own rules or something.
Not saying it should be illegal to be a dick by any means. I just find there to be better things to aspire to.
Once a douchecanoe, always a douchecanoe.
Three words: Brian & O’Brien
This is an amazing find and I love it. I heard he did a voice-over for a car dealership about challenge pissing while in Baltimore too….
aw man, this is gold right here. Way ta dig.
