Otakon Revisited – The Good
Up to this point we have shown the crappier, sillier and otherwise bridge-of-nose pinching side of Otakon in all its glory and it has been enjoyable for everyone. Well, probably not everyone, especially this guy who left one of the most copy-pasted comments regarding otaku culture and Otakon in general that I’ve seen since…. last week or so.
Wow, I’m glad that Baltimore is so full of assholes, just like every other major city in America. “Yeah, let’s ridicule people who are having fun, not doing anything to hurt anyone, because they do something we don’t understand, because they dress (for a couple days out of the year) different than we’re used to, and because we’re servile, unintelligent, close-minded twats, who have nothing better to do than put down other human beings who are having a good time.” Congrats, B’more! Way to show your “charm”.
To this comment I rebut: “Do you honestly feel like any of those costumes in the previous article were actually GOOD? You don’t cringe in horror at the site of a tranny Cammie character whose tiny bulge and pasty skin affront your optic sensors on every level? Fun is fun broseph, but there are limits as to what you can expect the general “close-minded twat” public to tolerate before they start making fun of you.”
And it is with this sense that I give to you dear readers the good side of Otakon. The costumes that truly took a lot of work, look great, and the people inside of them have the good taste and common sense to wear what they can pull off. There were plenty of examples – it just so happens that the horrible stuff is much, much funnier. Anyway here are some examples:
