James Kraft, Thank You
James Kraft, you are a genius. When the world around you is busy being really intelligent and engaging in well thought out discourse (well not really), you buck convention and whip out a Nazi reference while trying to introduce legislation to ban plastic bags and institute a bottle deposit.
“We don’t want to be criticized by future generations for not doing enough now as were those who dealt with the Germans then, [...] we have to think ahead.”
I mean, really? I wouldn’t think I’d even need to go over the obvious points about why this is kind of a premature plan of action to GO GREEN OR DIE, because you’ve already pulled Godwin’s Law and I’m probably not going to listen to you.
But, while I’m here, I might as well ask this: Didn’t we just introduce city-wide single stream recycling? What happens to that when everyone starts hoarding bottles to get their deposit back? And don’t you think that the poor bastards dealing with already skyrocketing gas, food, energy, health care, blah blah blah prices don’t need to additionally be worrying about the added cost of the containers that their food is held in for the 20-30 minutes that it takes to get from the store to the car (if they have one) to their door? Couldn’t we phase them out rather than make them outright illegal? Is the imminent risk to our health and safety posed by plastic bags so high that we need to make comparisons to Attrition?
Nah screw it, let’s just drop the banhammer.
